Conquistador Whiz passed away

30/10/2019 – NRHA Two Million Dollar Sire Conquistador Whiz passed away. The 25-year-old stallion is a son from Topsail Whiz out of Sugarita Chex from Bueno Chex and was owned by Silver Spurs Equine from Scottsdale, Arizona. Following complications from laminits, the stallion was humanely euthanized.
At the age of 4 Conquistador Whiz, shown by Duane Latimer, won both the NRBC L4 Open Derby and NRHA L4 Open Derby and AQHA Junior Reining World Champion title. In 2002 the reins were handed over to Tom McCutcheon, being crowned USEF Reining Champion. That same year McCutcheon showed him at the FEI World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera (SPA), the very first year Reining was part of the Games. The USA team, composed by Tom McCutcheon and Conquistador Whiz, Scott McCutcheon and Inwhizable, Shawn Flarida and San Jo Feckless and Craig Schmersal and Tidal Wave Jack claimed gold in de team competitive. In the individual competition Conquistador Whiz and McCutcheon claimed silver.
The most notable offspring of Conquistador Whiz is the 2002 gelding KR Lil Conquistador having > $ 460.000 in NRHA earnings to his name. KR Lil Conquistador is out of Smart Little Prize from Smart And Trouble and owned by Jeffrey Kirkbride from Ocala. Florida. Shown by Shawn Flarida the gelding won both the 2005 All American Quarter Horse Congress Open Futurity and 2005 NRHA L4 Open Futurity.
