17/03/2020 – The measures taken on March 15 by the Dutch government in order to get control over the spread of COVID 19 hits the equine sector hard as well. The measures to close all sports clubs up to and including April 6 also counts for equine sports accommodations. They are only allowed to stay open by taking appropriate measures to guarantee the welfare of the horses ant taking care of their basis needs, meaning only horse owners, personnel and service providers may have access. Cantinas have to be closed since March 15. Riding school- and association lessons have to be cancelled immediately and group activities and organized outdoor rides are forbidden. Equine accommodations are strongly advised not to give access to people and horses from outside.
