Moderate Reining top classes at Equita Lyon

03/11/2019 – What used to be of the most prestigious Reining competitions in Europe over the past years – the NRHA Open- and Non Pro classes scheduled in conjunction with Equita Lyon in France – turned out to be a huge disappointment this year regarding both the number of entries and the performance level.
The $ 8.000 added Non Pro class counted 14 entries of which 4 marked a 0-score. Spanish Andreu Nogue Puig and A Whiz N Cash [Custom Cash Advance] claimed the title posting a 216,0. Reserve honors were claimed by German Nikolai Stiller and Hollywood Gunrunner [Gunner] posting a 214. Ogi Puig and Ricostyle [Ricochet Rooster] and German Gina Maria Schumacher and Snip O Lution [Einsteins Revolution] tied for 3rd place both posting a 213,5.
The $ 15.000 added Open class counted only 7 entries and there was no excitement at all. With a moderate performance  Belgian Bernard Fonck and Ricostyle claimed the title posting a 216,5. Reserve honors were for French Charlene Albron and A Reminic Star [Lenas Starfish] owned by CJA Quarter Horses posting a 215,5. Posting a 213,0 3 combinations tied for 3 place: Bernard Fonck with both Smart N Ruf [Smart Spook] owned by Codan NV and Missedouttinseltown [Hollywoodstinseltown] owned by Golden Paint Ranch and British Doug Allen and Hard Not To Like [Pale Face Dunnit] owned by Francesca Sternberg.
The riders probably are on their way already to Verona (ITA) to join the 44 other combinations entering the $ 101.000 added Open class of the Elementa Masters Première scheduled in conjunction with Fiere Cavalli Verona.
Seemingly the big money has killed a beautiful initiative like the one of Equita Lyon.
