Sail On Top Whizard put to rest

03/10/2020 – NRHA Open World Champion Sail On Top Whizard, aka Topper, has been put to rest at the age of 15. Topper, a son from Whizard Jac out of Miss N Siss [Miss N Cash], was a pure and unique Belgian success. Bred by Yvette Saad (BE), owned by Danny Cerato (BE) and ridden to the top by Bernard Fonck (BE): a golden match. At the Oakland Reining Classic Futurity 2008 Bernard put the first NRHA dollars to Topper’s name and from that moment onwards the amount of NRHA earnings kept on increasing, exceeding the > $ 278.000. During their partnership Topper and Bernard booked many wins and earned a lot of titles and trophies at several main European events. The first big hit was made in 2009 at the very first NRHA European Futurity for 4-years-old. Bernard piloted Topper to both the NRHA European Futurity L3 Intermediate Open Champion- and NRHA European L4 Open Champion title.
In 2012 Topper and Bernard wrote history in the battle for the NRHA Open World Champion title. The battle between Topper and Bernard against RR Hi Ho Star [RR Star x Peppy Rey Holly, owner Katarzyna Roleska (PL)] on European soil was over, but not yet decided. Both horses were flown over to Oklahoma City to enter the $ 100,000 added Shoot Out, offered during the NRHA Futurity. The field of entries consisted of imposing riders and horses, among others Shawn Flarida with Gunnatrashya and Star Spangled Whiz, Andrea Fappani with Shiners Chic and Jordan Larson with Custom Cash Advance. Topper and Bernard were not impressed though, resulting in the co-Championship (together with Fappani en Shiners Chic) and the 2012 NRHA Open World Champion title.
The last big performance of Topper and Bernard was the participation at the FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Caen (FRA); Belgium won the silver medal in the team competition.
