Alpha Viking and Fappani NRHA L4 Open Derby Champions

22/06/2026 – Concurrent with the Non Pro finals of the NRHA Germany Breeders Derby scheduled for last Saturday in Rieden-Kreuth (GER), the Coliseum in Oklahoma City (USA) was the podium for the Open finals of the NRHA Derby.
The most sensational entry was the entry of the one and only NRHA $ 10 Million Rider Andrea Fappani. By posting a 236,0 het piloted the 5-year-old stallion Alpha Viking [Gunnatrashya x Rock It With Sass] owned by van Alpha QH LLC and Vargo QH LLC to the $ 270.000 added L4 Derby Champion title. Fappani ranks among the world’s absolute best. In 2020 he reached the $ 6 million milestone in NRHA earnings, in 2021 the $ 7 million milestone, in 2023 the $ 8 million milestone, in 2024 the $ 9 million milestone and in 2025 the $ 10 million milestone. His achievements in the NRHA Derby history are impressive as well. In 2004 Fappani was crowned L4 co-Reserve Champion; in 2007 and 2008 L4 Reserve Champion; in 2011 L4 Champion; and in 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2021 L4 co-Reserve Champion. A quite unique record.
In both the $ 165.000 added L3- and $ 70.000 added L2 division the 5-year-old gelding TR Gunna Dream [Magnum Chic Dream x Xtra Gunna Get Itdun] owned by Royal Wire Products Inc and ridden by Sam Flarida was crowned Derby Champion. In the $ 35.000 added L1 the 4-year-old stallion Danger Zone [Americasnexttopgun x Dainty Little Step] owned by Jody Puno and ridden by Wyatt Deary was crowned Derby Champion.
