Retrospect NRHA European Futurity finals

27/05/2026 – The dust has long been settled in the Exhibition Centre of Cremona (ITA) where the NRHA European Futurity was scheduled for last week. The L4 Open Futurity Champion title of Bernard Fonck (BEL) aboard DG Andy Crush [PS Mega Shine Chic] owned by Diego dalla Gassa (ITA) and achieving the NRHA $ 3 million rider status was one of the highlights. But there were more Belgian successes that deserve some attention. Matyas Gobert and This Biz [Spooks Gotta Whiz] owned by AT Reining Dream (BEL) placed 8th in L4 and Fonck and Sweet Little Diamond [Sugar Little Step] owned by Myriam Comparetto (ITA) 10th. In L3 Gobert placed 4th, Jody Fonck and PM A Vintage Rose [A Vintage Smoke] owned by Piet Mestdagh (BE) placed 11th and Jolien Rottiers and Trick R Treat [Tricked Out Spook] owned by AT Reining Dream 17th. In L2 Rottiers placed 11th. Christophe Fourez and his mount AT A Sparklingknight [A Sparkling Vintage] placed 12th in L1. There was also a Dutch touch to the Open finals. Pia Boonstoppel and Hollywood N Dance [Hollywood Dun It] owned by Quarter Dream SRL (ITA) placed 8th in L3 and 12th in L2.

Dries Verschueren was very successful in the Non Pro competition. With the 4-year-old stallion GP Hollywoodshowtown he claimed both the L4- and L3 Reserve Champion title. What makes the achievement extra special is the fact that GP Hollywoodshowtown is out of one of the broodmares of the Golden Paint Ranch, Smart CP Schowgirl, by their own stallion GP A Spook In Town.
Verschueren: “We are beyond proud of this result with a stallion of our own breeding program. It is difficult to describe GP Hollywoodshowtown´s talent and his enormous drive to please. I recognize a lot in his character of both mothers- and fathers side. The achievement in Cremona is the result of hard working and gives great satisfaction. But without the support of my parents and my partner Marie this would not have been possible, not to forget the trainers that worked with me and my horse towards this victory. Matyas has been training and successfully showing my horse as a 3-year-old, Arnaud Girinon has been an unmissable support for us at these Futurity and I can always count on the help of Bernard. Their skills and experience are very important if you want to book results. Thank you!”
The last Belgian success at the NRHA European Futurity to be mentioned is the 9th place of Tom de Boever and JJ Hip Hip Hoorah [Ricochet Rooster] in the L2 finals.
