15/06/2023 – The Open preliminaries of the NRHA Germany Breeders Derby for horses 5-year-old and older have been concluded yesterday in the Ostbayernhalle in Rieden-Kreuth (GER). Of the 63 entries in de €39.900 added L4 Open division 21 qualified for the finals. A 218,0 was required. The riders in the top did not give each other an inch. 3 Combinations tied for the lead posting a 222,5. Ann Fonck (BEL and the 8-year-old stallion Spook Unchained [Smart Spook] owned by Anna Reinhart, Grischa Ludwig (GER) and the 7-year-old stallion Gunnit In Hollywood [Gunnatrashya] owned by Alexandra Schmitz and again Ludwig with the 7-year-old stallion West Coast Trash [Gunnatrashya] owned by Margot van Doorne. Tiara van Dongen (NED) and the 5-year-old mare Orangeisthenublack [Smart Spook] owned by Gisela Haas came very close marking a 222,0. Posting a 218,0 Ann also qualified  the 7-year old gelding Colonels Whize Gun [Colonels Shining Gun] owned by Hermann Meinert. Bernard Fonck (BEL) qualified 2 horses for the finals: the 7-year-old stallion Mello Yello Jersey [Yellow Jersey] owned by Kay Schröder and the 5-year-old stallion Sail On Chexx [Chexolution] owned by Eyal Carmon.
25 Of the 79 entries in the € 16.800 added L3 Intermediate Open division advance to the finals. A 215,5 was required. Posting a 220,5 German Markus Süchting and Emanuel Ernst tied for the lead. Süchting aboard his own 11-year-old stallion JF What A Ruf Juice [Ruf Dun It] and Ernst with the 6-year-old stallion Wimpysdreamcometrue [Magnum Chic Dreams] owned by Celina Stuiber between the reins. Posting a 218,0 Kristian Hermus (NED) narrowly qualified the 6-year-old mare Miss Maggie Brown [Magnum Chic Dream] owned by AK Quarterhorses. Ernst also took the lead in the € 9.100 added L2 Limited Open division. Of the 124 entries 26 qualified for the finals. A 213,5 was required.
In de € 4.200 added L1 Open division 78 entries were vying for a ticket for the finals, a 207,5 was required. Posting a 214,5 Barbara Bayer (GER0) and the 8-year-old mare Valentines Gun Girl [I am Shotgunner] took the lead.
They all did well, but there is one entry that did super well and deserves separate attention. Stay tuned.
The finals are scheduled for Saturday June17.
