Open NRHA Futurity finalists announced
02/12/2021 – The field of entries of the NRHA Open Futurity finals has been set. Unlike previous years the Dutch Touch to the finals is missing this year, but there is European Touch to them instead. With the composite score 439,0 French Mathieu Buton established in Overbrook, Oklahoma, qualified his own Makin A Little Trash [Gunnatrashya] for both the L4- and L3 finals and Shine Babies A Ten [Shine Chic Shine] owned by Gregory Gessner with the composite score 434,0 for the L3 final. Leading in both the L4 division and Prime Time division are Shawn Flarida (USA) and Shiner On My Eye [Shiners Voodoo Dr] owned by Roberta Santagata with the composite score 445,5. Leading in the L3 divison are Matthew McDowell (VS) and Xtra Whiz On Ice [SG Frozen Enterprize] owned by Elisha Irwin with the composite score 442,0.
German Daniel Schlömer established in Scottsdale, Arizona, qualified Bar Hoppin Spook [Smart Spook] owned by Maria Daniele Inc with the composite score 436,5 for both the L3- and L2 finals and Circuit Breakr [Mr Electric Spark] owned by Valerie Arend with the composite score 430,0 for the L2 final. Leading in L2 with the composite score 444,0 are Jesse Beckley (CAN) and Trashinyurdreams [Gunnatrashya] owned by Norma Siebert.
Italian Gloria Spiaggi established in Aubrey, Texas, qualified Light Up Your Six [Inferno Sixty Six] owned by Slide Or Die LLC with the composite score 420,5 for the L1-final. Leading with the composite score 432,0 are Wade McDonald (USA) and Shining Like Flinn [In Like Flinn] owned by Pastorino Hay & Ranch Supply.
The Open finals are scheduled for Saturday December 4 The L4 Open Futurity Champion will win a guaranteed $ 350.000; the Reserve Champion a guaranteed $ 150.000 and number 3 a guaranteed $ 100.000. There has been a lot of discussion about this guaranteed prize money generated from extra sponsoring. Many NRHA members preferred that the NRHA would have used this extra money to give a boost to the Non Pro competition but their voices have not been heard.
