Gina Maria Schumacher once again writes history
24/06/2023 – German Gina Maria Schumacher already wrote history in de preliminaries of the NRHA Non Pro Derby and she did that once again in the finals concluded yesterday in Oklahoma City (USA). Posting a 224,5 Schumacher and the 6-year-old gelding CS Sailing Gun [Gunners Enterprise] claimed the $ 73.500 added L4 Non Pro Derby Champion title. This is the very first time in NRHA history that a European rider wins a Derby division. With this win Schumacher can add $ 50.000 in NRHA earnings to her record. With the 5-year-old stallion Gunin Addy Tude [Gunnatrashya] Schumacher tied for 3rd place posting a 221,0 and with the 5-year-old mare Legendary Whizkey [Whizkey N Diamonds] she placed 5th posting a 220,5. Posting a 223,0 Jack Medows and the 4-year-old mare Fire N Rein [Spooks Gotta Whiz] claimed L4 reserve honors. Schumacher shared step 3 of the podium with youth rider Emma Vanlandingham and the 4-year-old mare SHR Hollywood Kid [The Kids Gotta Gun] who also claimed the $ 5.000 added NRHA Youth Derby Champion title. The $ 55.000 added L3 division was decided in a co-Championship. Both Samantha Kapu and the 5-year-old stallion Chics Get The Chex [Magnum Chic Dream] and Rita Clausen and the 6-year-old gelding Xtra Kiss Me Again [Boom Shernic] posted a 219,0. Clausen also claimed the $ 30.000 added L2 Derby Champion title. Posting a 217,5 Hannah Mitchell and the 5-year-old mare One Ruf Surprise [Not Ruf At All] took reserve honors. In the $ 22.500 added L1 Kalicia Walters and the 5-year-old mare Raisinthebar [PS Mega Shine Chic] claimed the title posting a 217,0. Reserve honors were for Allison Chappell and the 5-year-old mare Gunners Lucky Starr [Gunners Special Nite] posting a 216,0. The $ 7.500 added Prime Time Derby Champion title was claimed by Michael Garnett and the 6-year-old stallion Thundrstruk [Spooks Gotta Whiz] posting a 219,0; reserve honors were for William Rhoads and the 5-year-old gelding Maehem [Wimpys Little Step] marking a 218,0.
