Great result for young Belgian Vannietvelt at Euro Derby
04/07/2021 – We have seen big names successfully on board of the 8-year-old stallion Hey Joe [Smart Spook], since 2020 owned by Belgian Steve Vannietvelt en Gina de Pauw: Jason van Landingham, Martin Larcombe and Bernard Fonck. And suddenly 20-year-old Nimroid Vannietvelt (BEL) shows up with this powerful stallion at the NRHA European Derby 2020 in Wiener Neustadt (AUT). Nimroid, who made the switch to the Open competition 2 years ago, lacks show experience with the stallion due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the combination did not show a sign of that. In the preliminaries the pair marked a 215,5 qualifying for both the € 31.860 L3- and € 21.240 added L2 finals. In the finals Nimroid did not disappoint at all. Staying out of the penalty box with the spins being the most powerful maneuvers the combination marked a 216,0 placing 3 in both L3 and L2. The title in both division went to Sebastiano Valtorta (ITA) and the 8-year-old gelding Four Season Whiz [Topsail Whiz] owned by Luca Mauri marking a 218,5; reserve honors to Petra van Eden (NED) and the 7-year-old mare Cee U In Tinseltown [Hollywoodstinseltown] owned by Gisela Haas. Nimroid may be proud of this achievement. Nimroid: ”I am very happy with this result on our first big show together. We have get to know each other a little bit better, but I’m looking forward to the next show together.”
